Friendly House Capital Campaign Advances

Thanks to remarkable support from community donors, construction is already transforming our old Brentano Building into an purpose-designed site for children’s programming. With continuing support we will also be able to begin renovations of the main Friendly House community center building later this year.

Extending the Legacy of
Friendly House

Since 1930, Friendly House has been a vital part of Northwest Portland. We are a welcoming place for all, where neighbors meet, children learn and play, older adults thrive, and people from all walks of life find community. Now is the time to secure a strong second century of Friendly House, where new generations will gather to learn, play, connect, and care for each other.

Campaign investments will support essential facility upgrades as Friendly House grows and adapts to meet community needs:

The Brentano Building: The 120-year-old Brentano Building is being renovated into a best-practice site for expanded preschool and after school programming for K-5th graders.

The Crawford Building: Planned upgrades at the Crawford Building will enhance comfort and accessibility for all Friendly House participants, with special focus on the needs of older adults and other vulnerable populations.

Together for Good Vision

Giving to the Together for Good campaign supports caring for children while also adapting to the needs of a growing Northwest Portland community.

  • 200% expansion of preschool support, from 1 to 3 classrooms
  • 25% expansion of after-school programming, from 4 to 5 classrooms
  • Enhancing community spaces for all participants in Friendly House programs

Options for Campaign Donations and Pledges

We are currently reaching out to major donors of Friendly House. When the campaign has raised $4 million, we look forward to launching the final phase of the Together for Good campaign with a Community Drive.
