2026 Summer Camp Schedule
Get ready for 8 unique sessions of summer fun!
Friendly House Summer Camp offers nine weeks full of adventure, learning, and fun!
1st–6th Grade Camp: 9am–4pm.
Optional before care (7–9am) and after care (4–6pm) are each offered at an additional cost.
Session 1: Minute 2 Win It
June 15th-18th, 2026 | 4-day camp
Special event: Friday showcase
Every second counts in this week of camp! Campers will take on a series of fast and funny challenges with only a minute to spare. We’ll wrap up the week with a live showcase where campers compete in head–to–head challenges.

Session 2: Portland, the City of Bridges
June 22nd-26th, 2026
Field Trip: Private Sailing Tour on The Crystal Dolphin (Portland Spirit Fleet)
Guest: Tanya March from Slabtown Tours
This week campers will learn about the bridges that connect the east side to the west side of Portland. We will explore the history of our bridges and create our own bridge models. We will learn about the history of the Thurman Street Bridge and take a chartered ride on the Portland Spirt fleet’s Crystal Dolphin to see the bridges up close.

Session 3: A Time Traveler’s Tale
June 29th-July 2nd, 2026 | 4-day camp

Guest: Tanya March from Slabtown Tours
To celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, campers will travel back in time to learn about the founding of the United States, the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and the founding of Portland.

Session 4: Friendly Scouts
July 6th-10th, 2026
Field Trip: TBD
Earn your badges and tie your boots! This week campers will jump into all things scout and camping related. After singing a campfire song or two, campers will take a field trip and get their first taste of fishing lessons.

Session 5: Game On
July 13th-17th, 2026

Get ready to get moving! This week campers will dive into a myriad of their favorite sports. We’ll wrap up the week with a trip to a local stadium, where campers will have an up-close look at where the pros play!

Session 6: Fantastic Forests
July 20th-24th, 2026
Field Trip: World Forestry Center and Hoyt Arboretum
Get ready to hit the trail! This week campers will explore the world of forests; trees, leaves, and discovering the animals that call the woods home. We’ll wrap the week up with a trip to the World Forestry Center and a hike at the Arboretum!

Session 7: Eat Right, Swim Right
July 27th-August 7th, 2026 | Two-week camp with swimming lessons at Sellwood Pool
Field Trip: Sellwood Pool Swimming Lessons and two Open Swims
We hope you’re hungry! This week, campers will learn how to make tasty bites inspired by places around the world. To build up their appetites, campers will head out to Sellwood Pool each morning for swim lessons before returning to Friendly House to sample delicious cuisine.

Session 8: Beneath the Blue
August 10th-14th, 2026
Field Trip: Cape Lookout State Park
Get ready to dive in! This week campers will learn about a new deep-sea creature every day. Then we’ll take the fun out of the classroom with a field trip to Cape Lookout State Park to see the ocean up close.

Enrollment Process
New Families
- From the Summer Break Camp home page on fhpdx.org, follow the application link for the Summer Break Camp that the family is applying for. Complete the application for the Summer Break Camp.
- Applications will be reviewed in the order that they are received.
- Applications will be approved by a Friendly House Children’s Programs administrative staff member.
- Once an application is approved, a Children’s programs administrative staff member will assign any additional paperwork required for the program.
- After all assigned paperwork is completed by the family, and approved by a Children’s Programs administrative staff member, Friendly House will notify the family using the Brightwheel messaging app to inform them that their enrollment is complete.
- Once a program is full, waitlist will be added to the title of the application, or to the specific days that are converted to waitlist status.
- Once a family is on a waitlist they will be contacted in the order received when space becomes available for their child. A Children’s Program administrative staff member will confirm that the family is still interested in enrolling their child into the program they have applied for.
- If a family is no longer interested in enrolling, we will contact the next family on the waitlist.
- If the family confirms that they are still interested in enrolling into the program that they have applied for a Children’s programs administrative staff member will assign any additional paperwork required for the program.
- Once a family is on a waitlist they will be contacted in the order received when space becomes available for their child. A Children’s Program administrative staff member will confirm that the family is still interested in enrolling their child into the program they have applied for.
- After all assigned paperwork is completed by the family, and approved by a Children’s Programs administrative staff member, Friendly House will notify the family using the Brightwheel messaging app to inform them that their enrollment is complete.
- Applications will be reviewed in the order that they are received.
Currently Enrolled Families:
- Will be sent a message in Brightwheel to offer them a new application or continuation for future programs that are opening for enrollment.
- Families who request an application/continuation form will be assigned the application or automatically enrolled for the following year by a Children’s Programs administrative staff member.
- The Family will complete the application.
- Applications will be reviewed in the order that they are received.
- Applications will be approved by a Friendly House Children’s Programs administrative staff member.
- Once an application is approved, a Children’s programs administrative staff member will assign any additional paperwork required for the program or forms that need to be updated..
- After all assigned paperwork is completed by the family, and approved by a Children’s Programs administrative staff member, Friendly House will notify the family using the Brightwheel messaging app to inform them that their enrollment is complete.
- Once a program is full, waitlist will be added to the title of the application, or to the specific days that are converted to waitlist status.
- Once a family is on a waitlist they will be contacted in the order received when space becomes available for their child. A Children’s Program administrative staff member will confirm that the family is still interested in enrolling their child into the program they have applied for.

Camp hours
1st–6th Grade Camp: 9am–4pm.
Optional before care (7–9am) and aftercare (4–6pm) are each available at an additional cost.
Discount, Billing, and Payment Policies
A $50 sibling discount is offered for the second and all subsequent children. Families who complete the scholarship application will not be required to submit payment at registration. They may be contacted later to make a full or partial payment, depending on scholarship eligibility.
Full payment is due 14 days prior to the start of each session (this excludes families receiving full scholarships). Refunds for canceled reservations will not be provided if a cancellation is made less than 14 days prior to the start of the session.
Payments can be made automatically through your Brightwheel account. Alternatively, they can be made by check to “Friendly House,” with cash, or through our one-time online payment page.
