Our professional and friendly Information, Referral & Assistance staff are available to take inquiries over the phone, email or in-person, to help you locate services and community resources for healthcare, housing, legal assistance, tax help, transportation and more. All of our Senior Services are provided free of charge.
Transportation Coordination
Our trained staff help coordinate transportation to medical appointments, meal sites, and other service locations. If you could use transportation assistance to help you maintain your independence, contact us today.
Energy Assistance Outreach
We connect people in need of assistance to pay for their basic utilities with agencies that can help. We will work with you to make sure you are able to pay your bills during difficult financial times, while connecting you with helpful resources. Contact us for more information.
Senior Law Project
This is a free service provided by Legal Aid Services of Oregon and affiliated volunteer attorneys. It is for people aged 60 and older, who are residents of Multnomah County. Initial appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes, and can address issues such as estate planning, consumer problems, social security questions, conservatorship or guardianship, real estate property disputes, and more. Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance (SHIBA)
We offer free help with Medicare from trained volunteers in partnership with Multnomah County Aging & Disability Services. Find out if you are eligible for Medicare benefits you are not currently receiving, compare insurance policies, ensure you don’t pay too much out of pocket towards medical bills, file claims and make appeals and complaints when necessary—all with the guidance of knowledgeable volunteers. Tax Preparation Services
Every year, AARP and CASH Oregon volunteers assist community members with preparing and filing their taxes at no cost. Friendly House has been a tax site for many years, and many folks continue to return year after year for this service. AARP and CASH Oregon volunteers are here three days a week from February through April. They help over 400 people with their taxes each year.
