Dr. Bill Presents: Women of the Stars (Part Two)

April 25 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Five thousand years ago, ancient priestesses studied the stars and planets as a way to forecast human and heavenly events, yet the names of most of these women have been lost. Join us for this exhilarating two-part series exploring the stories of the many women who have studied the night sky, from the ancient Babylonian astronomer-priestess Enheduanna and Hypatia, an early Roman philosopher, astronomer and mathematician, to Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin, who earned Harvard Observatory’s first Ph.D. in astronomy.

Part Two delves into the work of 20th and 21st century women like Dr. Jill Tarter, best known for her work with SETI searching for extraterrestrial life, and Dr. Jedidah C. Isler, whose research explores the physics of hyperactive supermassive black holes and their emanating jet streams.
