The Stonewall Riots that began the night of June 28th, 1969 were the culmination of years of abuse heaped on the LGBTQ+ community. Though the Stonewall uprising didn’t start the gay rights movement, it was a galvanizing force for political activism, leading to numerous LGBTQ+ rights organ-izations, including the Gay Liberation Front, Human Rights Campaign and PFLAG.
