Community Conversation: Reclaiming Pinay with Aleris!

In honor of October being Filipino-American History Month, please join Aleris Villegas (Community Center Manager) in a personal sharing of the journey to reclaim her Filipino heritage and how it forever changed the trajectory of her life.

As the recipient of a collegiate travel award, she spent three weeks integrating with human rights defenders in the Philippines right after President Duterte’s election in 2016 and the declaration of the Drug War. Come hear how the history of resilience and the strength of people’s movements throughout the archipelago awakened a desire for grassroots community organizing and continues to blaze a spark of hope in her heart!
