Together We Create More
April Activity: Origami Paper Crane Ties
We’re back! Community Nights return to Friendly House with the launch of a series of six collaborative art projects and activities created together online and (eventually) in-person throughout the year. In April we’ll gather online for a zoom demonstration of the art of origami paper folding, followed by hanging out in conversation while making as many paper cranes as we can. Traditionally, folding paper cranes is viewed as a meditative peaceful act that can bring good luck to those who make them; especially if 1,000 cranes are created. A group making cranes together can set whatever intention they choose such as a wish for more peace or a wish to ease suffering.
These paper crane garlands will be gathered from participants around the city and used to beautify the Friendly House campus for when we eventually reopen to the public.
Friendly House Community Nights are supported by an Oregon Arts Commission Arts Build Communities (ABC) Grant.
Registration is required by April 2. Art Supplies are provided and delivered prior to Community Night.
