Bequests

Leaving a planned gift to Friendly House is a great way to make a lasting contribution to our community while taking advantage of federal and state tax laws.  Planned gifts typically come from a donor’s assets rather than income.

Your gift can potentially

  • Reduce your income taxes.
  • Reduce capital gains taxes.
  • Reduce gift and estate taxes.
  • Provide income for yourself or others.

What can you leave to Friendly House in your estate?

  • Cash
  • Stocks
  • Bonds
  • Mutual Funds
  • Personal Property
  • Real Estate
  • Life Insurance
  • Annuity Proceeds

How can you leave a gift to Friendly House?

Bequest

This is the simplest way to leave a gift through your will or revocable living trust. Simply designate an amount or percentage of your estate in your plans that you will gift to Friendly House.

Charitable Trusts

You can create a trust fund for a family member or friend. This person will receive funds for the duration of their lifetime, at the end of which Friendly House will receive the remainder of the funds in the trust.

Charitable Gift Annuity

Make a gift without sacrificing income. Donate cash or another asset to Friendly House and receive fixed income for life from this gift.

Retained Life Estate

Make a gift of real estate while maintaining the right to live there for your lifetime or a specified term of years. This removes the asset from your taxable estate.

Beneficiary

Friendly House can be the named beneficiary on IRAs, life insurance, or other policies.

Other Options

Your financial advisor can provide detailed information on other planned giving options. Please feel free to contact us about other ideas that best meet the goals of your estate planning.

Support Our Endowment

Designating your contribution to our endowment fund, the Edd Crawford Fund for the Future, supports the mission of Friendly House in perpetuity. The Edd Crawford Fund is held at the Oregon Community Foundation. It is our policy to use the income generated by this fund to support Friendly House on an annual basis or to invest proceeds as our budget allows.

Legacy Circle

Our Legacy Circle is a special group of donors like you, who wish to ensure that Friendly House is able to support our community for many generations. When you let us know that you have included Friendly House in your estate plan, you become a member of our Legacy Circle. There are no dues or paperwork, just let us know so that we can thank you today for the support you are providing for the future.
